Summer in the Pirin Region!

Bansko is fast becoming recognised as THE place to ski and have fun in Winter, but there is a whole other side to this beautiful part of Bulgaria in summer!

We have enjoyed our 3rd year in the area and are still discovering new places to go and new things to do - whilst experiencing beautiful sunshine and relaxing spa therapies!  All at a fraction of the price across the more traditional summer resorts in Europe.

This is a glorious water park that has something everyone!  With what looks like an Olympic sized main pool, plus additional pools for the fun slides and smaller children, you can easily spend the whole day there without getting bored!  The slides vary from the tiny to the scary and include a 'helter skelter' tube that seems to go on forever!

Food and drink are extremely reasonably priced and it cost us just 15 LEV for 2 adults and one child to spend the whole day..  There are lifeguards on duty and assistants to take on the seemingly endless task of washing down chairs and tables to keep them clean.

Can be tricky to find when driving yourself but once found - you will want to go back!

Dobrinishte Pool

Closer to Bansko is the thermal and mineral pool at nearby Dobrinishte - about 20 mins by car/taxi. The water here is hyper thermal with minerals to relax that are said to have healing powers.  The water is also hot when it comes out of the ground and so the pools are wonderfully warm like a hot bath!  You can rent tents for shade or sit under the trees/ around the pool.

Surrounded by green and the mountains, it is a pretty and well thought out area for all the family to relax and swim.  There is also a restaurant, summer garden, pool bar and children's garden.

Trout Fishing and the Lakes at Dobrinishte

For anyone who enjoys fishing, there are some amazing lakes and Trout Farms around Bansko.

The Dobrinishte Trout Farm is a great afternoon out where families can all fish for Trout, have it prepared and either take the fish to the mountains for a BBQ or have it cooked for you in the Mehana there whilst you enjoy a beer or two!

There are also a number of lakes and rivers accessble by a chair lift at Dobrinishte and trips can be organised through BAMRO at any time.
